Let me tell you why I rock with Lola Monroe.

Her heart is astronomically bigger than her backside (and that’s no mean feat). She was born to fight (check her Ethiopian and Trinidadian roots) and has been doing so her whole life. While she’s undoubtedly tougher than you, her femininity is overpowering. She knows you know her from modeling in rap videos, and she’s fine with that. She’s putting in countless studio hours so you’ll know her for her own videos where she’ll have the mic, tearing it to shreds. Born Fershgenet Melaku, she’s a D.C. hustler who holds down her man (Bad Boy artist Los) while standing on her own two. Taylor Gang‘s first lady is determined to make Wiz Khalifa and ’em proud. And doesn’t she look fly in her Boss Lady x Reebok Classics kicks?

Catch Lola on the “2050 Tour” (with her Taylor Gang: Wiz, Chevy Woods, Juicy J, Berner and Tuki Carter) kicking off tomorrow in University Park, PA.

WATCH: Your Favorite Rappers Favorite Style Moments

Packed in like sardines, myself and other media types (I use that term loosely nowadays) worked theBET Hip Hop Awards 2012 red carpet this past weekend.

While my peers literally scrambled to get soundbites from every artist in attendance, I chilled for the most part (after covering red carpets for years, the excitement definitely wears off). I only really pepped up when I saw some of my favorites, like Wiz Khalifa and Machine Gun Kelly. The theme of my questioning was fashion (repping for, of course) with today’s rappers reminiscing on their most exciting style moments of the past.

The BET Hip Hop Awards air on Tuesday, October 9 8/7c.
