Oklahoma City Debuts “The Deal Makers” Conference

Major cities are conveniently the location for most music conferences but thanks to Amber Ravenel, CEO of The Ravenel Agency and force behind “The Deal Makers,” regional locales are finally going to share the same experience.

Ravenel, a New York based industry veteran, chose Oklahoma City as the first host to “The Deal Makers” due to the region’s buzzing pool of new talent.

“It was important for me to bring The Deal Makers Conference to OKC after discovering the wealth of undiscovered talent here,” Ravenel says. “I wanted to expose the city to the real deal makers of the business. My aim was for attendees to not only learn from seasoned professionals but to gain insight on the do’s and don’ts. Participants also were afforded the change to secure a record deal on the spot—all of which happened, to my delight.”

Conference leaders included: Lenny Santiago (Roc Nation), Eric Parler (Def Jam), Young Sav (Maybach Music) and Steve Carless (CTE/Atlantic Records), media heavyweights Vanessa Satten (XXL Magazine) and Reggie Hawkins (SiriusXM) plus television producers Maricarmen Lopez (VH1) and TV Executive/Publicist/More Media LLC CEO, Alvina Alston. Maybach Music Group’s Stalley also shared his personal insight on breaking into the business.

A highlight of the event was the presentation of the first “Deal Maker of The Year Award” to three-term Oklahoma City Mayor, Mick Cornett. Mayor Cornett received the award for his continued notable achievements, including the successful lobbying of the city’s first major sports team, the Oklahoma City Thunder and for being the impetus behind the region’s very successful quality of life infrastructure programs.

“I hope everybody understands the incredible music scene Oklahoma City is about to create,” Mayor Cornett said. “There’s incredible investments pouring into this city to help create the type of venues, production facilities and not to mention the talent that will establish Oklahoma City as a hot bed for the industry.”
