New Mixtape Alert: Remy Ma “I’m Around”

Remy Ma dropped her first set of work today since being freed from prison in August.

Titled I’m Around, the set kicks off with samples of the news coverage surrounding Remy’s case (plus her call into Angie Martinez just prior to her release) with a sound still seeped in classic New York street rap. Instead of enlisting a plethora of big name guests, Remy keeps it light with just her husband Papoose featured on “Black Love.”

The mixtape is sponsored by Pelle Pelle, hilariously appropriate considering the clothing brand’s popularity in Rem’s home borough of the Bronx. Check it out below.

Boss Lady Presents Woman On Top Mixtape Volume 1

Boss Lady Presents: Woman On Top is the first volume in a series celebrating female artists in hip-hop. This year was pivotal for femcees emerging into the mainstream with brash confidence, a clearly diverse sound and a shared view on how to move their careers forward in unison without playing into the media’s incessant attempts to drive them apart.

I have an incredible amount of love for every artist (and their teams) featured on this historic set for supporting my Woman On Top vision immediately and understanding that pushing each other forward takes nothing away from their individual successes. Special shout out to DJ Adore, who worked tirelessly on perfecting the mix and is a true star in the making. Thank you to my team Amber Ravenel (Women On The Move) and DJ “Big Kush” Jay (Team Invasion) for making my projects a reality. Not a bad way to close out 2012 and usher in 2013!

Exclusive: Iggy Azalea “Boss Lady” (Woman On Top Mixtape Preview)

Following on from Snow Tha Product‘s “She Ain’t Me” and Rapsody‘s “Most Poetical,” here’s the third (and final) exciting preview from my upcoming Woman On Top mixtape.

This one’s from my fellow Australian Iggy Azalea called (what else?) “Boss Lady.” Iggy’s currently working on her debut album The New Classic (due sometime next year) and performed last night on VH1 Divas.

Woman On Top features original tracks from some of my favorite artists and shows the musical diversity the ladies of hip-hop are bringing right now, mixed by DJ Adore. It drops Christmas Eve (December 24) right here on BossLady.tv.

Following on from Rapsody‘s “Most Poetical” track, here’s another exciting preview from my upcoming Woman On Top mixtape.

This one’s from Snow Tha Product called “She Ain’t Me.” The Texas-based MC is preparing for the release of her own mixtape, Good Nights & Bad Mornings, due this Wednesday, December 12.

Exclusive: Rapsody’s “Most Poetical” (From Woman On Top Mixtape)

Woman On Top is the name of my first mixtape series (I’m coming for you, Green!) dropping on Christmas Eve.

My support of female MCs is well-known (check the all-girl cyphers we did earlier this year, powered by Reebok Classics) and I’ve decided to put together a compilation of original tracks from some of my favorite artists, mixed by DJ Adore.

First cab off the rank is the ridiculously talented Rapsody who recently dropped her own project, The Idea Of Beautiful.

Trina Talks New Tiny Tonight Show & Back To Business Mixtape

One of the hardest working women in hip-hop, Trina‘s ready to resurrect her career in a serious way.

Speaking exclusively with Boss Lady and DJ D-Nice on Invasion Radio (Hip Hop Nation) earlier this week, “Da Baddest Bitch” was excited to share details on her new VH1 talk show Tiny Tonight, which debuts December 9. The program is hosted by Tameka “Tiny” Harris, with Claudia Jordan and Tamar Braxton rounding out the panel (Trina describes it as “Waiting To Exhale for television”).

The Miami rapper also talks about Back To Business, her long-awaited musical follow-up to 2010’s overlooked Amazin’ album—a set Trina says “didn’t get the credit it deserved.” Back To Business (due on December 3) is a mixtape she describes as “raw, sexy, raunchy; the real Trina. It’s for my day one fans.”

Iggy Azalea Releases Trap Gold Mixtape

Iggy Azalea might be the most successful hip-hop artist we see come out of Australia for a long time.

Today the blonde bombshell follows up her Ignorant Art tape and Glory EP with TrapGold, a mixtape the 22-year-old seems just as excited about as her dedicated fans are.

TrapGold is a project I created, to bring me back the feeling I used to get before I meet those men in suits who tried to find every way to suck the life and magic out of me,” Iggy explains. “It’s the fun and cockiness of being young and feeling bulletproof. It’s winding down your car window, extending your middle finger out and up into the sun as those men behind their desks stare down at you from their high-rise offices… “FU*K EM!”

Look out for Iggy to join Rita Ora on her five-date US tour starting October 23 in Santa Ana, CA.
